Okay, so don't hate me...but...

Morning!! For Mothers Day, I took my mom and daughter out to lunch and some shopping. We had so much fun. Well, we all LOVE Ulta, and when I walked in, they had the entire OPI Pirates of the Caribbean collection. I personally wasn't really drawn to any, except Mermaid Tears, oh and of course the Silver Shatter. I have had some request for swatches of them, but I could only bring myself to purchase these two, so  don't hate me, lol.

Here they are. I started with 2 coats of Mermaid Tears, and NO top coat.

Then, almost as soon as I completed the mani, I did a thin coat of Silver Shatter. Unlike other crackles I've tried, this one works best over mostly wet polish, IMO. I tried it over a completely dry mani, and it didn't really shatter well.

I also wanted to share another new ring I got on our girls day. I just love it, and the store Charming Charlies is becoming a FAVE of mine. We just had one open, and I have boughten so much stuff there recently, and nothing is over $30!!!! All my jewelry isn't even over $10 a piece! Oh, and yep, that's my right hand, that you never see, lol.

  7. I wanted the entire collection but I have resisted. Plus I don't have an Ulta within an hour of me so it really isn't too hard. But that silver shatter looks amazing. I might have to make the drive just for an excuse to finally go to Ulta!

  9. Mermaid Tears looks beautiful. I have nothing like it in my collection and perhaps I should. ;) Thanks for the tip about putting the crackle on over still wet polish! Your ring it stunning by the way - I love the "Victorian" feel to it!

  14. That's so funny. I just discovered Charming Charlie's on Mother's Day. For those who haven't been, the coolest feature is that they arrange everything in color groupings, so half the battle of finding matching ensembles is done for you!
My 15 month old daughter filched a pretty glasses case without Mommy noticing, and they didn't even try to arrest me when I brought it back...
Now they just need to start their own polish line ;)

  17. Okay, so I was reading this post and was shocked- I just bought both Mermaid's tear and silver shatter and then, immediately afterwards, went to Charming Charlie's for the first time. I was reading on Google Reader so I went to you home page- and saw you are Schwenksville! Your Ulta is my Ulta! Your Charming Charlie's is my Charming Charlie's! A tip: if you haven't tried Kiwi Yogurt in that same shopping center, you should. It is delicious!

  18. Beautiful!
One question: are your photos color accurate? Because if they are, I think Mermaid's Tears could cure my Damone Roberts 1968 lemming. From your photos, they look very similar.

  20. LOL. Don't feel bad. I'm not too enthused with this collection either and the only two I wanted were the two you got. (I got those two also last Saturday.) I do love the combo though. Thy both look good on you. :)

  21. Wow, your pic of MT makes it so much greener than I know it is! I got the same two you did, as well as Sparrow Me the Drama. I didn't have a problem applying the Silver shatter over dry polish, but that might just be me. I honestly can't believe how many people are disappointed in this collection; I know quite a few expected darker colors, but really, it's the wrong time of year for them. I think these colors are perfect for spring and summer.

  22. Thanks you guys!!

Alicia, oh I was too!! Thank goodness I found a way to use it, otheriwse I would have returned it.

Joyce, thank you so much! I will be sure to check your blog as well ;)

Caris, isn't it the best store! The seperate color sections really are amazing.

Jac, YAY, I love it!! So where about do you live? Oh and now I know who to blame when a polish I want is sold out, lol

Anonymous #1, They are color accurate on my side. Now I know that every computer screen varies and how it displays pictures. I would look up Orly Ancient Jade, apparantly they are very close to eachother. I don't own either, Ancient Jade or the Damone Roberts, but if you google a comp of Ancient Jade and Mermaid Tears, you will see that others are saying they are fairly close.

Anonymous #2, yep you read right, 'Boughten', I'm not writing an english paper, and this is my blog, so therefore I can use any words I like. I love it :) Oh and BTW, it is a true word according to Urban Dictionary, lol -

BMR, oh good, I'm glad I'm not alone in my dislike of this collection. I mean the colors were pretty, bt nothing was really unique enough for me :(

  23. Elfleidy, I wasn't disappointed that there weren't darker colors, I do understand that it is spring. I just wanted more unique colors, and when you have a stash of over 1000 bottles, I just can't buy colors that I already feel like I have, or feel can be duped and/or frankened easily. Again, that is just my opinion.

  24. Nice mani, I'm a fan of green. And i LOVE the ring!

  25. Omg I'm loving the silver shatter, it on it's way to me via eBay USA- half the price I'd pay in the uk and delivered! Woo hoo to bargains!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Very beautiful , I love it. I just love silver shatter in general !

    ReplyDelete
  27. Nail polish and rings? Those are my obsessions too. XD

I really like Silver Shatter. I'll have to obtain that sometime.

  28. nice color !! and love the combo !!

  29. Hi Erika this is totally irrelevant to your post above but I am looking for an opaque baby pink polish and I thought you would be the person to know!!! Many thanks x

  33. I tried SV today for the first time today... LIFE CHANGING!!!! Ok does that make me sound crazy? But seriously... I plan on having so much fun with my nails now. I did it over china glaze ruby pumps with black crackle. I did this on both my feet and my hands today. Thank you for your amazing advice.

  34. Looks lovely! I really like your ring too. I think cameos are simply gorgeous and SO girlie!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I've never seen a ring cameo before and that is so lovely! Hey, the polish ain't bad either! I think I'm coming around to this collection.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yes, the "I'm not writing an english paper, so I can sound like a fool" excuse is perfectly valid. Carry on.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Thanks you guys :)

Suzanne, you will def love it. It is my favorite one so far of all mr crackles :)

Cammy, oh me too, rings and lip gloss are my weak point after polish :)

Anonymous, a great baby pink polish would be sally Hansen Insta-Dri Presto Pink, and if that is not light enough, I would just add some white. It's opaque in 1 coat :)

Lula, isn't SV the best!!! I completely understand how you feel, it changed my life too, when it comes to manis

  38. Mermaid Tears looks so beautiful on you! I can't wait to use mine! =] & Same as you, I couldn't bring myself to buy the whole collection, even though my boyfriend was telling me to. I think he finds interest in collection that are movie influenced. Lol. I only made out with Mermaid Tears, Stranger Tides, & Silver Shatter.

  39. Hi Erika,
Thanks so much for your reply to my question regarding color accuracy/Damone Roberts 1968 green. I appreciate it and will Google the colors you suggested.

  40. omgnoodles, whew, I really am glad I'm not alone on this, but I do admit, I was kind of glad I didn't love them all, because it saves me tons of money ;)

Sinead, you're so welcome!! I hope it helps :)

  41. *shakes head and tuts at anonymous* guess your mother never told you that if you haven't got anything nice to say then don't bother!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Suzanne, haha, thanks. Yeah I was kind of shocked, but hey, I can't please everyone. I too have learned that whole if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all, but no biggie, we were all brought up differently.
