Katniss Everdeen, GIRL ON FIRE!!!!

OMG OMG OMG, I cannot freaking wait until tonight!!!!!! For those of you that read the book, I'm sure you remember that Katniss's nails were painted with flames on them. So here is my tribute to her for tonight! Oh and since I am no good with nail art brushes I grabbed my tool, tape :)

For this I started with Sinful Black on Black on all my nails except my 2 ring ringers. On them I used 2 thick coats of China Glaze Electrify.

I then cut some fire/flames out of tape. I forgot to get a pic before I placed it on my nail and polished over it, so that is why the black polish is already on it, oooppps.

and here is the final result. I didn't do all my nails, like I vision hers being done, because I just thought it would be overkill.
Oh and YAY and side note, my phone just rang and I have the the Hunger Games whistle as my ring tone. Dork, I know.
Okay back to the mani, It was so hard to get a good pic, to show the effect and not have it distorted by the glare, but I tried :)

This is going to be the looooongest day ever!!!!

  2. Your nails look stunning, and will match the movie so much. The movie is really, really good, I was lucky enough to watch it last night at a red carpet event in Denmark.

    2. I loved it!! Stylistically I found a lot of the choices made matched the feel of the books. The grittiness and hopelessness of the lesser districts are very well put into use which is half of the movie, and the spectacle that is The Capitol is also quite on par with the books.

Naturally first person present is a hard thing to film, but Jennifer Lawrence performs her a** off in the role so it isn't that big an issue. One bonus is we get behind the workings of the game making itself which I found was very gratifying.

  4. Excellent! Perfect choice for the flame color and classic with all the others black. No idea how you can trim such a precise shape into a tiny piece of tape, though! Kudos!

  55. ooh so pretty! I just started a blog, more to document my manis , but I did one kinda similar. I used tape to make flames. I couldnt for the life of me think of a way to make flames until it hit me- TAPE! I've been doing tape manis for the longest so when I found your blog I was all excited! Just in case you wanted to see, heres a link, not anything special :) Anyway, I'm not as talented as you, I tried to cut flames in one peice but ended up just doing a bunch of little triangles...maybe if I would have tried smaller scissors, like for cuticles? lol oh well http://crystalonceuponanail.blogspot.com/2012/03/hunger-games-girl-on-fire-nails.html

One night I was on stumbleupon.com and it took me to this blog. Ever since that night, I have always checked up on the posts to get new ideas and to see new colors. I now live for using tape on my nails! It's a genius idea. Whenever I do a tape manicure, I always get countless compliments and people are always shocked when I tell them that I got the idea off of a blog. Thank you so much for sharing and I'm excited to see more posts!
