I started with 2 coats of Flying Dragon, which is a purple neon, so dries matte and does not play well with my camera :( It's a deeper plum/purple then my pictures. Soooo much better IRL. Then I did a coat of SV, and waited about 5 minutes before applying a semi thin coat of Funky Fingers Teal Scales. Lastly, another coat of SV.

A Great Surprise!
Morning! A couple of weeks ago, while shopping in Five Below, I spotted an amazing sparkly polish by Funky Fingers called Teal Scales. I will say that when I picked it up and noticed it was a crackle polish my heart sunk a little, but not enough to put her down :) I had currently had China Glaze Flying Dragon on my nails, and decided last night to try the crackle, and fell in love with the combo! Now I for one, was done with the whole crackle craze, but this brought my love back.

ReplyDeleteWow, this combo is amazing!
ReplyDeleteOh wow!!! I did realise crackles like this existed!
ReplyDeleteit is amazing ! I love this crack. I do not know if here where I live, this brand is available at all :(
ReplyDeleteBeautiful combo I love it
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! I am not a big fan of crackles, but I like this one.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous combo!
ReplyDeleteCute! You know... A crackle doesn't crack when you put it on your bare nail, so if you would want to wear it as a regular polish, you can! :)
ReplyDeleteI was just wondering about that!...you read my mind...lol
DeleteMnemo, OMG if this is true, you made my day! I'll def try it this weekend. Thanks!
DeleteYep, I just tried it again to be sure. It works! The only thing is that the crackle has to be pretty opaque at 1 coat, because of course you can't pile up the coats without the polish cracking... :) Maybe if you slap on new layers when the old layers are still (semi)wet? I know most crackles don't crack properly when the underlaying layer is still wet.
DeleteGood luck with it. Love to read how it worked out! :)
This looks awesome!! The glitter in the crackle is amazing, so much better than the plain ones I have.
ReplyDeleteI had the very same thought about Teal Scales! I was sad at first to find out it was a crackle, but it is one of the most beautiful colors I've ever seen regardless.
ReplyDeleteI am no fan of crackles and do not own a single one. But this looks very pretty! I may actually consider buying if I ever come across it. Therefore, YOU are to blame for the only crackle that turned my head!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I will take full blame for this one!!
DeleteWhat an amazing combo! I would not have wanted a crackle, but this one's amazeballs! Your pictures are actually making me want a crackle polish, yikes!
ReplyDeleteWhat a magical combination! <3

I'll def check that one out, thanks!
DeleteOh my why they did that color crackle? This one is cool but would be awsome if was a regular polish.
ReplyDeleteThanks for share this amazing color.
Well thanks to Mnemo above, she said it shouldn't crackle if it goes right on the bare nail, so I'm def going to try it!
DeleteThanks everyone!!!
ReplyDeleteOoo! I love this. Teal Scales is sooo pretty! I think it may be one of my favorite crackles.
ReplyDeletehttp://lacquer-love.blogspot.com/
OMGoodness! I love those colors. I have sworn off crackles for a while, but that is such a cool, out of the box combo I may have to start thinking about getting crackled-up again.
ReplyDeleteOMG that is gorgeoussssssssss!!!
ReplyDeleteI have this and tried it once and it didn't crackle!! Now I'm gonna have to try it again. The color combo you have is gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteYes, please give her another try!!!
DeleteI was kinda over crackles too but man this looks so gorgeous! you make it look so beautiful, do you use a lightbox and is it lined with black paper instead of white? cuz your pictures look amazing.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I used to use a light box, but now, you'd laugh if you saw how I take my pictures. I'm literally sitting on the arm of our couch, one foot on our side table, so I can lean into our floor lamp light, lol.
DeleteCan you imagine if we all took pictures revealing how we take our pictures? Those would be some funny posts. I stand on my bathroom counter top. This crackle is GORGEOUS, by the way.
DeleteHAHA! Believe it or not, THANKS ladies for the tips! I am having a hard time figuring out what to do when there is no sun outside. My light box didn't work very well. (I probably didn't do it right.) I might have to try your ways! Chloe, I too am over crackles, but THIS is fantastic! The way all crackles should look!
DeleteGreat blog. Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteThe purple is lovely!
ReplyDeleteYour nails are so perfect painted!!!

I love that combination. Also, I'm happy to hear you're doing better and happy to see you posting again.
ReplyDeleteThat looks really great! Have you tried applying crackles in a side to side motion or diagonally? It really changes the way the crackle looks.
ReplyDeleteWELCOME BACK! I have definitely looked at crackle polishes and after realizing they are crackle.. it is just a bit upsetting.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS!
ReplyDeleteThese colors look amazing together.
Love it! You do the best color combos!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a crackle I liked, ever, until now! This is so pretty!!! Why does it have to be a htf one????
ReplyDeleteStunning!!! What an amazing color combo! At that polish cracks so nicely!
ReplyDeleteHoly moley! I hate crackles, but that is friggin' GORGEOUS. I may have to bribe my kid sister to make a run to her local Five Below for me...
ReplyDeleteI would never have thought to use a glitter polish on top of crackle polish - it looks AWESOME and I'll be trying it out for sure! =)

ReplyDeletewhat a gorgeous combination! glad to have you back =)
ReplyDeleteOMG love it :D
ReplyDeleteErika, first of all: I missed you!!! <3
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I hate crackle (mostly for how it feels as it pulls on my nails), but I've seem this color several times, and I have a very hard time not buying it. It's precisely the amazing shade of teal I want. *sigh*
Love the colors, and love them together, though. I might have to just bite the bullet and deal with the feeling for something this pretty. :)
I bought this crackle a while back but I haven't been able to figure out what to layer it on. I just happen to be wearing purple now (holo! Specialita Dionisio) and I'm definitely going to refresh my manicure with this!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to see you're blogging again and feeling better :)
I have been debating on buying this crackle everytime I go into a five below and after seeing this post I bought it today :)
ReplyDeleteOk I would have never gone into five below if it wasn't for this post, mostly because I had no idea what it was, but I am so glad I did! This crackle rocks and that store is amazing!
ReplyDeleteWOW! & now i need Teal Scales!
ReplyDeleteWooow! What a gorgeous combo! Glad you're back. =)
ReplyDeleteok i bought teal scales after your post but mine is not crackling nearly as nicely as yours : ( i tried a thin layer the second time but it's even worse. guess i'll have to try thicker next time.
