My Weekend Tape Mani :)

Hey everyone, I hope you guys had a great weekend!

This mani I did Friday night, while Jack and I were just relaxing and watching one of our favorite movies, Blow. If you have not seen that movie, you MUST!!!!

I started with using Sinful Black on Black on all my nails except my ring finger nails. On them I used a polish I purchased from Etsy called Pretty in Pink, it's a pink and orange duochrome. The seller is DollishPolish. I love her stuff and have a few others to share with you guys :)

Excuse my new friend, the paper cut who has taken up residency on my middle finger!!!

Then I taped off my ring fingers like this

I added Sinful Black on Black over top

Then after that dried, I taped them off again like so...

then once again I used the Black on Black and a coat of Seche Vite

How could I stop there though, especially with my Essie Matte About You top coat just staring at me from the end table!
So, once again, taping my nails off the exact way as I did before, only over the black, and applying the matte top coat to the other nails, here was my finished mani :)

  3. Love your mani! I didn't know about matte colors and top coats until I started following your blog. I had seen the magnetic polish but wasn't about to buy it...until I went through your archives. Now I've got to get some! Thank you Erika, for being such an inspiration to me!

  4. Love this! Especially with the matte! How do you make sure that the tape is stuck down but doesnt pull the polish below off?

    1. Stick the tape to your hand a few times before putting it on your nail.

    2. Thank you! I have attempted tape manicures a few times and always end up with pulled up polish or the tape not coming all the way off the nail. Hopefully my next attempt is not so stressful.

    1. I have to same problem. Someone commented earlier and said to try sticking the tape to your skin a few times prior to putting it on the nail so that the sickness isn't as strong.

  25. Hi there,
I'm a fan, and you recently got my hooked on doing my own mani's.

Quick question for you...what brand of tape do you use? I use oldschool "Scotch Magic Tape" but it likes to bubble at the edges so I don't get a clean line. Let me know what you use or if you have any recommendations to prevent this from happening!!

  28. Totally just had a brilliant idea looking at this mani. For a "back to school" mani you could do black polish with the matte about you top coat then with one of those Sally Hansen nail art pens write something cutesy so it would look like a chalk board!

  35. Sorry that in Polish I write. Pozdrawiam,
    Sonia
