A Valentine idea - Simple & Easy

With Valentines coming up, I wanted to start getting some ideas, so the other night I tried one of them out. I didn't want anything to over the top or insanely complicated. I absolutely loved the turn out.

Oh and last night Jack and I spent 3 hours going through my stash. re-organizing, and pulling polishes that I either didn't want/use or had enough back ups of. I took some pics, so hopefully I can get them loaded for tomorrow :) I must say, wow, I had about 400 more than I though!!! Jack even came from the hall closet carrying 2 boxes full, that I forgot about, eeekkkk!!!

Anyways, on to the mani. I started with 1 coat of Sally Hansen Rapid Red.

Then using these craft scissors I cut some tape strips out

Like so..... (if you look between my fingers, you can see my Chi, Rolo, well his face looking up at me like I'm crazy, lol.

I then placed them on my nail, making semi half moons, taping off the red part and used Color Club Peppermint Twist. Then finished with a coat of SV.

  7. I love the tape manis, but I can't seem to make them work. The tape dissolves and breaks/rips I end up having to pick it off with tweezers. Am I using the wrong brand of scotch tape?

    1. Thanks :) I always use Scotch brand tape in satin finish. Just make sure you are removing the tape ASAP after you each nail.

  15. Your manis are always so perfect.

But I have to admit... this one kinda of reminds me of college girls that get French manicures done where the nail bed is made to look super short so that the tips look long.

Hahaha, I still love you though, Erika!

  16. What kind of craft scissors do you use for cutting tape? I have a whole set and they will NOT cut tape! Grr. I love the look but can't do it!

  17. I need your secret. Every time I try to do a craft scissors mani, the polish bleeds under like nuts.

    1. You really just need to make sure the ends of the tape that you will be polishing over, and 100% flat. That's why I prefer Scotch so I can make sure.

  25. I loveee a good red and pink contrast. :) Question for you, how are you able to cut the tape with the shaped scissors? Have you ONLY used the scissors on tape (never on paper, etc.)? I've tried with several scissors and tapes and none of them have cut, only crinkled the tape. Any suggestions? Sorry if you're already answered this!

    1. Yeah, I've only used these on tape, but I have to put the tape as close as I can to the back of the scissors and cut fast, lol.

  35. Wow absolutely flawless! i tried this mani for the first time a couple days ago and too funny i did the same color combo! my lines did not come out as smooth as your though and instead of tape i used the 3 whole punch repair stickers. How long did you wait for your polish to dry before you peeled away your tape??

  36. super cute, your pics are so beautiful, like always.

  37. This mani is so cute! I tried to do a half moon mani recently, but trying to cut out the tape shapes didn't come out so well. I actually bought craft scissors for manicure designs after seeing them on your blog a while ago, but I completely forgot about them! I wonder if I bought this design.

    Thanks for the great post!
