Let's get crafty! and a Giveaway question.

Since I'm always trying to come up with fun ways to use tape, while I was in a craft store, I saw these, and wondered why I never tried these!! These work PERFECT, and I already have the next 3 days scheduled, of manis I did with them, lol. Here are the ones I picked up, and the you can see the designs they make on the side of them. They were only $1.99 a each!!
For this mani, I started out with Sinful Black on Black
Then I decided to use this pair first :)
I just cut the tape in half, and this is what it looked like

Then taping off my nail, I added China Glaze Recycle

Then taping them off again, I added Nubar Reclaim! I'm addicted to these scissors now!

Oh and you might see some leftover glue on my middle finger, haha, I was def feeling crafty, and couldn't get all the glue off!  Ooohhh, I can't wait for you guys to see the others!!!

Okay, now I have been collecting a few polishes here and there, about 20, and am ready to host my first giveaway very soon. I would like your advice though. Would you guys prefer it to be a 1 winner giveaway, and that 1 person wins it all, 2 giveaways - that the first winner gets to pick like 10 and the 2nd winner gets the other 10, or 4 winners - with me separating the polishes into 4 sets of 5, and starting with winner 1, they can pick which set, then winner 2 can pick the next set and so on? Hope that makes sense, lol. Since this is for you guys, I would love to hear your opinions. Oh and yes, this will be open to EVERYONE :P
TIA!
XOXO Erika

  2. 4 winners will be the best choice I think!

  3. I would never have thought to put reclaim with those colours. It looks fantastic! I've been practicing my tape manis but yours are perfection.
I also vote for more winners. That way more people are happy.

  4. 4 winners!!! uuuh!!! do you make it internationally? :D

  5. Yeah um, hi those scissors are amazing and will be purchasing them soon... Gosh. I had my first go at the squares taped off mani you've absolutely perfected-- gave you credit too if you want to go check it out. I'm so jealous 1 of your collection and 2 of your abilities and 3. of your nails bc they always look perfect!

I'm all in favor for the more winners the merrier!

Your manis are always perfect! <3
And I'm for more winners as well! =)

  7. That's a great idea. I have one of those scissors at home, so I will definitely try to do a manicure with them.

I also vote for more winners.

    ReplyDelete
  8. That is a brilliant idea! I have scissors like that at home too from when I was a kid, I'll have it try it some time :).

And I vote for having 4 winners :).

    ReplyDelete
  9. This is a wonderful idea. I can't wait to get my hands on the scissors you used today. I already have a perfect manicure in my maid =)

    ReplyDelete
  10. amazing, that's really clever, Can't wait to see the rest of the posts.
For the giveaway i reackon 4 winners would start to get really complicated plus really hike up your shipping, i think 2 would be ideal cos 10 polishes in a win is a real treat .Also if you have 4 winners people could start to get fussy about the 5 polishes they win if you know what i mean causing a headache. then agaain..... you have so many followers that 4 winners would be great .... ha ha just complicating it now. I dunno , either way a giveaway is a giveaway and it will be happy days!
    hope you feeling better

    ReplyDelete
  11. Lovely nails again! You're so inspiring :)
I'd like 4 winners for the giveaway, because the more happy people the better!

    ReplyDelete
  12. oOo that's such a smart idea... now you've inspired me to go digging for my craft scissors...

for the giveaway i think that 4 winners would be great! the more the merrier ;)

hmm all this sounds so exciting..can't wait to see your next manis :D

  13. I'm also for the 4 winners. That mani is fabulous btw. I can never keep my tape from pulling up my polish, even after waiting for a rapid dry tc to be fully dry. *sigh* Eventually I'll get the hang of it! ;)

  14. hoooow cool and original!!! Wow! Very nice tutorial! I give it a try soon on my own nails. nice, nice, nice!

  19. i like the idea! I've some scissors like yours and I'd try to put into practice.
    thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Those are fantastic! I'm not sure it would have occurred to me to try those but it makes for a super interesting manicure :)
In regards to the giveaway, hmm. If I was the winner I'd want it to be one winner XD but I think it's not as practical. I think two winners would be cool as they'd both get something pretty substantial, but 4 would work as well to share the wealth :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. The 3rd option sounds the best to me! That way more people can enjoy the prizes. The shipping will cost you and arm and a leg though. So maybe option no. 2 then?
    These scissors are fantastic, BTW.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I second the proposition with four winners. I hope this will be international :)

By the way, I "replicated" one of your tape designs again.
This time, it went way better, less problems with the tape ;)

If you want, you can check out the design here:

    ReplyDelete
  24. wow, this is amazing, I have scissors like that at home too :D I thik 4 winners will be the best. Most equitable ;)

    ReplyDelete
  25. What a great idea! Looks great!!

I vote for more winners as well. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  26. great mani :-)
more winners = more chance for everyone :-D

    ReplyDelete
  27. Oh my God oh my God oh my God, I can't believe that I have such scissors and never thought about using them for my scotch tape manicure inspired by you!!
You're the Goddess of my inspiration, Erika, I can't thank yo enough for your sharings and wonderful ideas!!!
As for the giveaway, I'd say the more winners the best, because it would give us all more chances, but as it increases the shipping costs for you, this may not be the best solution (especially sicne overseas shipping costs can be awful ^^)
    Have a great day!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. oh man, this is v. exciting! i can just imagine how fun it must be to come up with new designs now!

    ReplyDelete
  29. its completely up to you with the giveaway, ithink it would be nice to have as many winners as possible, but if thats unfeasable for you for whatever reason, 2 or even 1 is amazing! i cant wait to see what youve got stashed for us!!!

i love hte wiggly scissors haha, ive tried it myself before, but this was years before i started my blog! keep them coming! :D

  30. What a great idea! I have those siccors, why didn't I came up with this..

    ReplyDelete
  31. What a great idea using the crafter's scissors! I did my first scotch tape mani inspired by you for St. Paddy's and it turned out so great I haven't taken it off for 5 days...which some kinda record for me!

& sorry to be redundant but I like the idea of multiple winners too...thanks for asking :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Amazing as always!

Shipping can be quite a shock, especially overseas! I say do what works best for your budget. One winner is still fantastic!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Love this, I want to run out and grab those scissors. I have a pair of pinking shears to do the zig zag, but the one you featured in this manicure is so cool!

I think whatever you want to do works out the best, but however you divide up the polishes, I think you should choose and then people won't fight over what polishes they get, they should know going into the contest how they'll be divided up.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think that the four winners idea sounds cool. I love you scotch tape manis, they have inspired so many new ways to do things with my nails. I have gotten so many compliments and when they ask where I got the idea I always point them to your blog.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Four winners would be great. 5 nail polishes are really nice.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hehe when first I saw your mani with scotch I immediately thought to cut it with that kind of scissors. My mother has lot it's crazy.
Your mani is pretty cool, I don't really like green, but the design is cool.

    Oh a giveaway :D
Hmm I think four winners will be better (maybe I'll have a chance like that haha ^-^)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Great combination of colours. I tried this type of manicure using craft scissors last year sometime, I used Sticky back plastic for taping off the nails, (the stuff you use to cover books etc). You can check it out at my blog under label of "Orange".
Great Giveaway. I think I would choose more winners.

    ReplyDelete
  38. That's a great use for those scissors. I have a few of them from when I did some scrapbooking. I'm going to have to get them out now and give it a try. It would make an interesting french tip. For the giveaway, I think the more the merrier!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I have a TON of those scissors (my mom used to scrapbook, haha) but I would have never thought to use them that way. I'm really excited to do my nails tonight, lol! What a great idea!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  51. Genius, pure genius!!! What a great idea! You always have the best ideas! I totally want to try this now!

    ReplyDelete
  52. That is a brilliant idea! I think I have a pair os scissors like that somewhere...I will have to dig them out! As for the giveaway, I think there should be four winners and you divide the sets. :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Lol! I'm so surprised you didn't have a set of those scissors already! I have a whole bunch but haven't had any successful manis with them yet. Yours looks amazing!

Natalie, aww thank you!! I hope you do try it out!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I totally thought you'd already used scissors like that. I immediately thought of them when I first saw your scotch tape designs, and thought "I need to dig those out, I can use them for some fun designs". Glad to see you thought of it anyway. :)

On the giveaway front, it's really up to you. I just hope people won't get a bazillion extra entries by reblogging and retweeting, since I can't do either of those.

    ReplyDelete
  58. More winners of course! I love this taping :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. That mani is fantastic! I have so many of those craft scissors and never thought to use them for tape mani's!! Great idea!

  64. Erika, I used to make cards, but haven't had time since I went back to work. I have around 35 or so different craft scissors. They were ok, some better than others.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I like the idea of 4 winners.

That manicure is AWESOME. I have some of those scissors and think I will try that!

  66. 4 winners!!!!! :) so more people can have a chance :)

    love your swatches!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I feel like a huge dork for not thinking of using these scissors. I have about 10 pairs! Instead, doofy me has tried to cut waves on the tape with regular scissors and NO success lol. You are genius! I also tried using those shaped hole punchers but that didn't work so well.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I vote for 4 winners. I love all your ideas and now can admit I am officially a nail junkie :-)

    ReplyDelete
  69. Super awesome! I want some of those scissors now! :D

    ReplyDelete
  70. That color combo is great! I wouldn't have thought to pair those together. As for the giveaway, I like the idea of multiple winners - it's more fun for more people.

    ReplyDelete
  71. love the tape!!!

yes do 4 winners, more for everyone =)

    ReplyDelete
  72. I say the more the merrier.

Those colors are stunning together! would never have thought of those color combos! another great mani.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I think doing it with 4 winners would be nice, but if you want to give more away to people then do it by how much nail polish you have, I guess. I'm totally jealous of that Nubar color, oh man. From looking at your mani's you've addicted me to their colors but I haven't gotten a chance to get any yet. They are fabuloso! Love all your mani's, you do such an amazing job. Those scissors are a unique and crafty idea!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Hi, Erika! I'm HONORED that you are now a follower of my blog, www.pawstopolish.blogspot.com.

  75. 1st of all... this design is HOT.. what a cool pair of scissors :)

its so nice of you to ask us what we think about giveaway. i think its best to do 4 winners and you pick which one gets what becuz you choice is good and whoever wins would definitely love it ^_^

    ReplyDelete
  76. LOVE the design! You're always so creative with you designs

i think the four winners would be best. I am always frustrated when giveways are only one winner but the prize package is huge and could definitely be split so more people can win.

    ReplyDelete
  77. oh i forgot to ask, what type of tape are you using? what i tried not works well :S
    Thx! :)

    ReplyDelete
  78. Thanks you guys!!!

llse, oh I wish I used these scissors before. I was just cutting the tape myself!!

pkbmum, well you should def use them again!!

Katie, aww, well you are very welcome :)

    ReplyDelete
  83. I love this idea of using the tape and the craft scissors! I have a few of those lying around my house. I may have to try this tonight! I can't wait to see your other designs. I love your creativity with your nail designs!

    ReplyDelete
  84. O wow, I love these nails! I'm definately gonna try this myself.
And I also vote for more winners; more lucky one's, more chances..

    ReplyDelete
  85. I'm off to my studio now to get my decorative scissors. What a cool idea. 4 winners gets my vote especially if your doing international!

    ReplyDelete
  86. 4 winners sounds great. Great thinking with the scissors!

    ReplyDelete
  87. ahh this is such an awesome idea !!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Oh I love the tape pattern on the scissors! I have some crafty ones tucked away somewhere some I'm going to pull them out and use them :) for the giveaway I'd say the more chances of winning is better for your readers but only if it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg :D x

    ReplyDelete
  89. I say more winners!!! and i love that mani!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Chloe, you're fantastic!! Your criativity is great! I'm a brazilian admirer of your beautiful manis! :)

    ReplyDelete
  93. Wow this is so cool! I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  94. Love it. And now I have to put fancy scissors on my wishlist.

Definately 4 winners. More chance for everyone

    ReplyDelete
  95. i would def prefer more winners, that way we all have more chances to win lol :)

    ReplyDelete
  96. Chloe, girl, you have changed my outlook on nail polish. I thought I needed all these tools to make designs and graphics on my nails! All i need is tape, some SV and creativity. I'm off to Michael's to get some scissors. Thank you!!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Hmm. I have tried using shaped hole punches to shape the tape for half moon manis but didn't have much luck with it. I never thought of using those scissors. I dug out my old shaped scissors from when I used to scrapbook and I have 18 different pairs! Might have to borrow your idea!

Regarding the giveaway. It's very generous of you and I think any winner would be grateful to have anything at all ! :)

    ReplyDelete
  98. I agree with MaD Manis about the giveaway, and about the scissors! I have some of those hidden away in a drawer too! I love this...

    ReplyDelete
  99. What a clever idea! I do scrap booking on the side and already have a bunch of scissors. Though it would be super for one person to win all the goodies I think it would be neat if you had like 4 or 5 winners.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I was actually thinking about cutting Scotch tape with those funky scissors...and voila! You read my mind! XD

Honestly, do what is most convenient for YOU for the giveaway. You already treat us with these wonderful manicures...AND you want to give free polishes? Whatever is easier for you, do it. : )

    ReplyDelete
  101. I love those scissors! Last week I was thinking about these kind of scissors, and I bought a few, funny to see you had the exact same idea :D
    Can't wait to try them!

And about the giveaway, I think it's a great idea you're hosting it at all! I think you should do whatever you want. If there's 1 winner, that would be a lucky bastard, and if there will be 4 winners the chance to win for the participants would be bigger, and the price would still be great. So I would say like 4 winners, but if you feel better with 1 or 2, just do that!

    ReplyDelete
  102. I know I have some scissors like that somewhere...trying to find those will give me more reason to clean :P I vote for 4 winners.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I am a scrapbooker and have all kinds of scissors but never thought to use them with tape like you have. The possibilities are endless, thanks for the inspiration!

    A giveaway? AWESOME! 4 winners please :)

    ReplyDelete
  104. I think you should have 4 different winners so more people can have a chance to get the polishes! I would love itttt.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Love that mani!!! I've had those kind of scissors for years now lol and didn't even think to use them in this way! I'll have to try this out!!

    ReplyDelete
  106. LOVE LOVE LOVE the mani!! I will be going out and getting some of these scissors soon.

As for the contest I say more winners, the more the merrier!!!

    Thanks for the wonderful idea!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  107. Thanks you guys!!! Now get your scissors and start your manis, because I wanna see your ideas too!!

    ReplyDelete
  108. More winners!

and I have a whole set of these scissors but never thought to use them this way! Now I can't wait to try it out :D

    thanks for the awesome idea!

    ReplyDelete
  109. 4 winners! I like the set idea!

    ReplyDelete
  110. Erika! I had that idea a few months ago when I found your blog and learned of "Tape Mani's", but thought that it wouldn't work! I should have said something lol I'm so glad it works! I love your mani! It's soo pretty! I know I have a few of those scissors some where...plus I don't have the patience to perfectly cut the tape, so this may be easier! lol
And I like the idea of 4 winners! I don't know about anyone else, but I've entered in a bunch of contests lately and I'd just be happy to win anything at this point! :-) And if it's a color I'm not in love with (which hasn't ever happened anyway), I have an extra Zoya Envy that I received that I want to Franken to a lighter color! I've never done that before! lol How exciting though, your first giveaway!! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  111. PS - do you think those hole punch designs would work too? Maybe in the center of the tape and then center it on the nail? I guess it's pretty much like a Konad or Bundle Monster (I'm about to cave pretty soon on those...) lol Let me know if you ever try that!!

    ReplyDelete
  112. I think you should do 2 winners :)

    ReplyDelete
  113. You are a flippin' genius. I LOVE this tutorial! I had to try it right away, of course.. AMAZING!! I appreciate all the ideas you give me! :D

    ReplyDelete
  114. 4 winners!! That way more people have a chance to win :)

    ReplyDelete
  115. 4 winners. more chance for ppl to win =)

    ReplyDelete
  116. I love it.... I never would have thought to dig into my scrapbooking stuff to use for manis.....

    ReplyDelete
  117. Cool scissors & tape manis!!!

for the giveaway, I vote 4 winners :o)

    ReplyDelete
  118. so do you just use regular tape for this?
    i also vote 4 winners :D

    ReplyDelete
  119. Oh my goodness girl you are incredible. I had thought about those scissors but I thought they would have been too big. But, you showed us. Love it!! Now I have to find these. Where did you get them at such a good price?

    ReplyDelete
  120. This mani is so perfect I'll faint or start jumping or something! Too gorgeous!

    ReplyDelete
  121. This is great, really clever, I've tried and tried and tried scotch tape and it just will not work for me, I do a top coat and wait a good while between but it always messes up the polish underneath, how do you get it to work so well, is it a special kind of tape you use?

    ReplyDelete
  122. That manicure is so genius! How come no one has thought of this before? I love it!

And more winners would be great. (:

    ReplyDelete
  123. Nice touch with the craft scissors!! Never would've thought if it myself.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Thanks everyone!! I'm so thrilled you all like this as well as I do!! I can't wait to do more!

Crystal, you know, while I was at the craft store, I saw the hole punchers, but the ones they had were all too big :( I think it would def work though!

laheelahee, yes I always just use my scotch tape :)

Rhonda, I got mine at A.C. Moore :) Thanks girl!!

Courtpara89, I use Scotch tape. I have a tutorial on how to use it in my Tutorial tab, and also some tips in my FAQ tab :)

    ReplyDelete
  125. Cool idea! Got to look after those kind of scissors!

    ReplyDelete
  126. Such a great idea! I definitely think that more winners would be better. More people would be happy that way! Love your blog! I'm getting so many great ideas for my own nails. Though I wish mine would grow as long as yours. Mine are so thin and brittle and take FOREVER to grow!

    ReplyDelete
  127. ooh i was thinking of doing this!! Have you ever tried buying any decorative hole punchers at the craft store and seeing if the tape would work for that? If it does, that would be so awesome. & btw ur feather nails and diamond ray nails are TOOOOOOOOO freaking pretty!!!

    ReplyDelete
  128. Thanks you two!!

Couture Queen, don't worry they will be long in no time. Just make sure to take care of them :) Have you tried Biotin?

Prettyfulz, I actually looked for some of the design hole puncher thingys at my craft store, but the ones they had were all too big :( I'm def keeping my eye out though

    ReplyDelete
  129. Hi !
I was wondering which brand your scissors are from? Have tried to use another kind, but they just weren't sharp enough to flawless cut through the tape.. ?
Thanks in advance, or what it's called in english :)
    /Stine
