Umm...Not how I pictured in my head

Okay, so not all my ideas are great, lol. If only you guys could see in my head, the way this was supposed to turn out! Anyways, this is the idea that I didn't finish on my previous post, because I thought with the glitter it would have been too much. Well I just don't like it with the butterfly. Oh well.  For this I used Sinful's Black on Black and Confetti Debutante.

Once again, I started with my black

Then this is how I cut my tape. I didn't want perfectly straight lines, so I did this.

with all my nails taped, polished then a coat of SV on.

now this is the wheel of butterfly fimos that I ordered off of eBay
and finally with a cute butterfly. I am just not feeling the look of this, and had it pictured different in my head.

  1. I don't like it with the butterfly, but the mani looks fine to me. I am amazed on your facility to cut the tape, I can't do that! The lines are not straigh, the tape breaks into a million pieces and so on... it makes me crazy

  6. I think it's because the butterfly is more yellow-toned than the gold. If the gold had been more yellow, it probably would have worked out fabulously!

  7. The butterfly doesn't look right, but the manicure itself is so pretty!

  8. Hi, this is what coverage do you bypass the glaze that is so beautiful. What is the brand?

    Kisses from Brazil to you

  9. It looks beautiful, as always! How long do you let the first polish dry before taping? I feel like I'd rush it and mess up the original polish.

  13. I agree, you should have gone with a different butterfly but I LOVE the base, the slanted lines-- perfect! (And I'm jealous of your nails!)

  15. Thank you all sooo much!!

Nathalia, If I understand correctly, the top coat that I use is Seche Vite :)

Jennifer, after I do my polish, I do a coat of SV, and let that dry about 6-7 minutes.

Cammy, I hope it came out okay on your sis. I'm so glad you're trying these out!

  18. hey hey:) So I'm going to give the scotch-tape mani a try! I am curious, after you've applied your base coat, do you seal it with a top coat and let it dry, or do you wait until the look is completely finished before adding your top coat?

  20. Thanks you guys!!

A Polished Life, I do now seal every layer with a coat of SV, and then let it dry for about 6-7 minutes.

ambrezio06, here is a link to a review of a well liked cuticle remover -

I have been fairly lucky in the fact that I don't really have issues with mine. I slap cuticle oil on a few times a day and I am continually pushing them back with my other nails :)

  21. thanks for the tip! So the verdict is in. I tried, and I failed miserably! I tried your patch-work mani which I absolutely love, and I was just not coordinated enough to do it lol. I am definitely going to try again tomorrow, but do a little more pre-prepping. I have some photos of my disastrous attempt - I will blog tomorrow :)

  24. I adore this mani! Just a quick question, after you put on the tape and painted on the color, do you wait for the polish to dry and then take it off? Or do you just take the tape off when it's still wet?

  25. Miss Blue, thank you! As soon as you paint over the tape, remove the tape. I only do one nail at a time. If the polish has any time to dry to the tape, when you remove it, some of the polish will come off with the tape. I don't think I have ever used the word 'tape' so much, lol.
