Who needs sleep.......I DO!!!

Okay, so sorry everyone, I am still here. I've just been struggling with sleep the past 3 nights. I've never dealt with insomnia, or any kind of sleep issue, but I am now and it's wearing me down. I'm not sure why either. I would understand if I was stressed or changed anything in my life, but I haven't. I've even been trying to take Tylenol PM, which will usually knock my butt out, but that's not even working. So in the past 3 nights, I've added up a total of 6 hours sleep :( Yesterday, wow, I was a fun girl, lol. I was very lightheaded all day along with a headache on top of being exhausted. Poor Jack, even the delivery guy being late made me cry, lol. Thank goodness he can handle it so well, and not hold my sweet words and moods against me.

I have been doing manis though, and have pictures, but they haven't been cropped or watermarked, so I will try to get them up soon, but as of right now, I'm a zombie.

I hope you all are doing great!
XOXO
Erika

  2. Ugh, I can totally understand you, I've also had a problem with insomnia, and I'm really ashamed as to how whiney I can be when I'm tired. I hope you can get a good night's sleep soon! :)

    1. OMG I was awful, and I knew it, that was the bad part, lol. I ended up taking a loooong bath, and that seemed to calm me a tad.

  3. I think it has something to do with the last few nights because I have had the same kinds of non-sleep issues. Not really insomnia for me, but terrible nightmares that have caused me only to actually stay asleep for maybe 15 minutes at a time.

    Hope you feel better soon!

    1. That is so weird!!! The past few nights, I've had such vivid dreams. Some bad, some good, but really intense, and I remember it all when I wake up! Okay, what's going on in the world???

  4. I hope you get some sleep soon!! Rest as much as you can even if you don't get to sleep. I've struggled with insomnia most of my adult life and I've found it's a little bit easier during the daytime hours when you just lay in bed and let your body rest. I hope you feel better soon sweetheart!

  5. Hi Chloe,
You can probably tell by the name of my blog (polish insomniac) I can understand what you are going thru! It's hard, because its easy to psych yourself out and make it worse! Lack of sleep also distorts your perception of reality. Try not to stress yourself out about it. I wouldn't take Tylenol PM because it's basically just Benedryl added to Tylenol. Also, the active ingredient that makes you sleepy only lasts about 4 hours! Not cool at all. I used to take real sleeping pills but the side effects were horrible. Now I just take melatonin. I don't take it every night, but when I do I sleep thru the night. It helps!
    Good Luck!

  6. I have had insomnia for years. Sounds weird, but one thing that really has helped me is an app called Lightning Bug. It's basically a sound machine with tons of sounds that you can customize. It is one of the few things that has really helped me get to sleep since I don't like taking pills. Staying asleep is a whole other issue! LOL

  13. I have sleep problems since I was a teenager. I used different tips:
    - Have a daily routine before going to sleep. I always spend time for myself. I like to relax in my sofa and watch some TV series.
    - Lights. I use candles while I'm trying to relax.
    - Hot drinks like milk or tea.
    - Wear comfortable clothes or pyjamas while watching TV
    - Don't worry about the time. The important is the quality of the hours you sleep.
    - Read before going to sleep.
    - Don't go to bed until you're almost sleeping.
I hope these tips help you sleep better.

  14. I just so happen to look up in the night sky last night and a full moon was out. This might be your culprit. They do say that our sleeping patterns are affected by the moon.

  15. I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and when I don't get enough sleep I cry at everything too. Once I cried because there weren't any bananas left in the fruit bowl. Lol! Luckily I was alone at the moment, so no one saw!

  16. Melatonin works WONDERS!! Its what your body naturally produces that tells your brain it is dark and time for sleep. Take it 30 minutes before bed time, turn off the lights and wait for that magical moment!! There are many different strengths but start off low and see how it works. I SWEAR by it!!! And you also don't get that groggy feeling in the morning. It's just a natural chemical and I LOVE it!! Usually they have them on sale at Kroger for bogo in the vitamin section. Good luck!!

  17. Hey Erika! I hope you get some much needed sleep soon. I just wanted to share that I also have anxiety problems, and a few months back I started having trouble sleeping at night. I finally started taking some medication for my anxiety and it completely solved my sleeping issues. Just wanted to share since I know you struggle with anxiety as well and they could be interrelated. Good luck and feel better!

  22. Hey, I feel for you, girl! If I don't get enough sleep I am a cranky, horrible monster. Def try the Melatonin and also Vitamin D. About an hour before you want to go to bed, turn off the TV, PC, and dim the lights. You might want to try some candles, scented or not, whatever your preference. And try reading a real book or magazine. Herbal tea is also good (Sleepytime is great). If you don't get some quality zzz's soon, see the doctor, esp if this is not usual for you. Take care of yourself. If you don't, you're no good to anyone else. Sweet dreams, hon.

  23. I've had my share of sleep issues since I have a lot of family matters that wear me down, but I learned a breathing technique from a friend of mine that does martial arts.

Usually people can't sleep because they have a lot on their mind wether it's intentional or not, and this way of breathing takes your mind off it.
So what you do is you lay on your back and you make yourself aware of the way you breathe. You can either beathe with your stomach or breathe with your chest or breathe with both of them.

Then you start. You count to three and breathe in with only your stomach (only your stomach rises), then you count to three and keep breathing in with only your chest. So first breathe in 1-2-3 with stomach and then keep breathing in 1-2-3 chest.
Then you exhale 1-2-3 chest and 1-2-3 stomach.
You seperate the two and you never breathe with both of them at the same time.

It works so well for me and the main reason is that for it to work properly, you have to do the counting and you have to make sure you breathe with each part seperately.
So you're not able to think of anything else which relaxes you which again will help you fall asleep.

Superlong comment, but hopefully it'll help! :-)

  25. Don't worry, sometimes we pass through things like these, even we haven't experienced before. Maybe you are just balancing yourself, but it's a strange way, I aware of it :P
Up and down until you're balanced, and, when you overtake a bad habit, but your body needs for some down anyway, it will create a new one. Body and mind are a bitch! XD
The only advice I can give you is to pay as less attention as you can to this matter and impose a rigid routine to yourself :)
    *hugs*

  26. I wanted to say that I am new to your blog, but oddly, we are in the same neck of the woods, as I am in the Lehigh Valley. I was so excited that there is someone who is as crazy about nail art/polish as I am - and somewhat local to boot.
I am sorry to hear you are having sleep troubles. I have had issues with insomnia, but for the usual reasons you listed above (stress, change, etc). Not to sound too "mom-ish" but perhaps if it persists getting a sleep study might not be a bad idea. Anyway, I hope things improve.
Side note, I tried to sign in to comment with my wordpress account and it wouldn't work. I had to use google this time. Just an FYI. ~Erin

  27. Try some tea with melatonin...there's a tea in some stores that's sold with bob Marley on top....don't know if you would wanna try it but its called mellow mood tea and the ingredients are basically melatonin, chamomile, and some other natural ingredients that make you sleepy. My husband drinks it and falls asleep soon after! Try and Google it.

By the time it's all done, my bedtime has come :( I need to be in bed by 9pm at the latest, because I get up around 4:30 am to get ready for work. I have an hour and a half commute to work, each way!!

  29. i was just wondering, why do you use the term "mani"? do you cut your cuticles and file/buff your nails everytime you paint them? because ive always known a manicure as a pampering to your nails type of thing, like cutting your cuticles and ect.?

    1. Well everytime I do a 'mani' I do always, use oil on my cuticles, then push them back, and if needed a light buffing.

  30. Thanks you guys!! Let me tell you, I've tried so many things. From reading, different teas, listening to audiobooks, baths, having Jack give me a masssge, no caffeine, and I even resorted to trying a neighbors prescription sleeping pill. I just might have to go see a doctor soon, because even though I don't feel exhausted like I did, I can tell it's still taking it's toll :(
