I started with 2 coats if Zulu and a coat of SV
Then I chose these scissors
and this is how it cuts the tape
I was going for a semi-half moon mani, but with a little twist. So this is how I taped my nails off
I used China Glaze Laser Lime for the semi-half moons
As you may notice, I FINALLY opened a Twitter account, so you can now also keep up with my blog on there. YAY. The linky thing is on the left hand side of the page.
omg. zulu is love! such a pretty color. arg, im green with envy ;)
ReplyDeleteLovely. How many coats did it take to cover zulu?
ReplyDeleteI followed you on twitter :)
Oo, Zulu looks so nice on you.
ReplyDeletea pretty forest green :D
ReplyDeleteZulu is gorgeous. I found Sinful Last Chance & was wondering if it's even close to Zulu.
ReplyDeletethat's really lovely, was looking forward to seeing your St Patricks Day mani . I'm in Ireland but have to admit my paddys day mani is subdued - essence" must have ". Might gert time to stamp a shamrock on it before the parade at 3!
ReplyDeleteI have craft scissors but the sharpness is not good- was experimenting & they are quite blunt for cutting scotch tape unfortunatley.
I want to love Zulu but I just don't. One of my pet peeves with polish is colors being so dark they may as well be black. I love the concept of Zulu but it barely looks green in most pictures. I do think this mani is really cute though!
ReplyDeleteZulu is truly one of the most amazing polishes <3 It looks great on you, and your idea using craft scissors is briliant :)
ReplyDeleteThose scissors are so clever!! I'll have to find some! Happy St Patty,s Day :)
ReplyDeleteSo cool, I love you and your smart ideas :)
ReplyDeleteomg i literally just sat here and looked at a million posts on your blog. I love it!!! I'm definitely going to try the tape technique!!

First I thought it was plain black, but the polish being super dark green is quite cool! And the scissors just offer so many possibilities, I think I might have some somewhere... :)
ReplyDeleteHere's the link to my recent tape manicure, I think it got a bit lost in between all those other comments ;)

ReplyDeleteI love it! I was so excited to see what you would come up with and it turned out great.
ReplyDeleteOh, and BTW, I tried out the whole licking thing if you smudged your nail polish (from your FAQ page) and even if it tastes bad, it works amazing. So thank you!
I like it! What kind of tape do u use?
ReplyDeleteHi Chloe I do not speak English but understand a little and I do not get put on google lol
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of their nails, their ideas, their creativity.

Zulu is wonderful nail polish...
ReplyDeleteVery nice colour. Like what you did with the tape too.
ReplyDeleteI have been LOVING these. I've got a pair of craft scissors that cut what's supposed to look like a torn edge of paper. Can't wait to try it! Thanks for inspiring!
ReplyDeleteAwesomesauce! I love the holo over Zulu, which is amazing on it's own as it is!
ReplyDeleteThanks you guys!!
ReplyDeleteRhonda, it was only 2!! I love this stuff
Jaybird, I wish I had that one to compare for you :(
Emer,I actually just read over on Rhondas blog, Nails Boutiqued, that you can sharpen them by cutting foil! Here is the link

Meeka, I do hear what you are saying, it does annoy me sometimes, but IMO even from afar, this looks green, well as long as your in a well lit place, lol.
Jackie, haha, thank you so much!!!
naekubi, thanks! I will be sure I check it out!
Minty, oh YAY, I'm glad you tried it, and it worked!
LadyLuck, thanks, I use Scotch Tape brand, Satin finish
Kelly, thank you so much!!!

Colourcoated, welcome and thank you so much!
Loving the art scissor creativity! This manicure is so fun yet classy! I so look forward to your daily posts. Your pictures are such eye candy!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!
ReplyDeleteHow did putting the tape on your nails not peel off the previous coat of nail polish? I'd be afraid that putting something sticky on my nails would just remove bits of the first color.
ReplyDeleteHi, Chloe. I just found your blog through Pinterest and was looking through your whole blog and LOVE your different techniques with nails. I have never really been a girly girl but used to do my nails a lot when younger and am trying to get back into it again- I've decided on Manicure & Pedicure Mondays. I have a definite dumb question for you. What is SV and where do you buy it? It makes that finish AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Jennifer
I found your blog via pinterest. Wow, you are a true artist! I loved this look & decided to try & recreate it. I was curious to see if someone with no artistic ability or experience would be able to! I blogged about it here, with a link back to the pinterest pin which links back to your blog. :)

I found your article on St Patricks Day to be just what I was looking for, thanks for sharing this valuable piece. St Patricks Day celebrations
ReplyDeleteWhen you do the designs, do you put a clear coat of SV on before you tape it off and do the design? I tried this and the tape pulled off the clear coat of SV and wasn't sure what I was doing wrong.
ReplyDeleteLOVE THIS!! You are amazing! And you keep making my wish list of things to buy for myself grow!
ReplyDeleteYou are SO talented! I love this!!
