Kelier Black Crack Polish from Born Pretty

So Jessica from http://bornprettystore.com/, which btw, has some other amazing nail art items, sent me the Kelier Black Crackle Polish for me to review.
I will say that I had to play with it for a few minutes, to discover the best way to use this Crack polish, and here is what I learned. In order to get the effect I preferred, I needed my base coat to dry 100%. When it was, I applied a pretty thick coat of the Black Crack polish, and waited. Now unlike others I've tried, this one did take a smidge longer for the cracks to appear, but once they did, i loved it! Then I also learned that if you plan on using a top coat, WAIT. The Crack polish needs to be 100% dried. If it is not, when you apply it, it sort of fills in the cracks, and just looks like a plain old black polish.

Here was my final mani....Now I know this look isn't for everyone, but I'm a fan :P

The pic below is where I was playing in the beginning. My ring finger, 3rd finger, was the one that I let my base dry completely, and applied a thick coat of Crack polish over top, and also waited for the Crack Polish to dry 100%.

My pointer, middle & pinky, I also applied dry, but applied a VERY thin coat of Crack polish. This caused TONS of itty bitty cracks, which did look cool, but I preferred the fewer tad bigger cracks. Then you can kind of see how when I applied my top coat while the Crack polish was still semi wet, that some of the cracks vanished, and filled in. It was weird.

  4. Nolitoshy, Thanks, yes ,OPI has one called Black Shatter. I have that one as well, and will hopefully get my pics up tomorrow.

Kendal, have to agree. I tried the Black Shatter last night, and it def is more of a 'shatter' effect than a crackle IMO.

  8. Thanks you two!

Rhonda, Oh no what happened? I actually prefer this formula to OPI's. OPI I leared, you MUST be pretty fast when applying.

  11. I STILL can't decide if I love or hate the Crackle/Shatter effect. On you, it looks fantastic. On me...I dunno, I'm kind of apprehensive, haha.

  18. i love the way the Kelier cracks BUT!!
has anyone noticed that after washing hands the nail polish melts away?

  19. Wow, I've never experienced that! What top coat did you use?

  20. I am using Seche Vite top coat which I have used with China Glaze Crackle and the OPI shattered without issues. It hasn't been 24 hours and the Kelier black crack is almost all gone at the tips and corners, but the base color is perfectly in tack. It looks like my manicure is a week old~!

  21. Wow, that is so weird. I never had an issue. Maybe try layering a regular top coat or Gelousunder the SV.

  22. You made me actually like the crackle! (Granted, most of the time that I see it, it's on the hands of 11 year old self-proclaimed nail artists!)

It reminds me of lightning. I'd love to see you create a lightning effect with a glittery polish as the base!

Beautiful blog. I absolutely fell in love with your work. Thank you!!
